Shadow Moot/ Sunday Soiree prep
Hey all,
So, I am thinking about getting food for the Shadow Moot. I do not and cannot cook, but I am buying caviar, fine russian crackers, and looking in to some other foods.
I will also look into buying some other Russian low prep foods. Sadly, there are no Russian restaurants in CBus, or I would have it catered.
The Shadow Moot itself will be for Shadow Lords, but I will want to open up the after parts to the rest of the game, for those interested. Let me know if there are any out there who would like to help with either bringing food (russian tea, mebbe?) or decorations (I do not do decorations either- for a gay, I have no interior design sense)

I'm surprised there aren't any Russian restaurants, considering they own like all the strip clubs. XD
I dint know if I would bring anything because I don't know if Julia would go. But I could help you with prep!

As usual, I must point out that Kate will not be involved in your perverse, sick schemes.

Re: Shadow Moot/ Sunday Soiree prep
I will be supplying Caviar (well, OK, Caviar with a capital C is now illegal, but Roe, at least), traditional drink (think I found a good non-alcoholic Russian sparkling dring to mimic chapagne) and POSSIBLY catered meat and cheese platters from a polish deli I found. I will be taking donations, as I am now expecting to spend a pretty penny (happily, and no donations are required of course). I also think I will be able to feed 10 - 20 people with what I got. Though, Caviar manners will have to be held
... this stuff is bought by the ounces.
Anyone have thoughts about how to offer caviar but the expectation of not eating tons of it... without being rude?

Re: Shadow Moot/ Sunday Soiree prep
So, just got back from the russian deli. They will be supplying meats, cheeses, pickles and breads. I also bought 3 different types of Kvass (a russian non-alcoholic 'beer' that is really more like soda- citron, taragon and regular kvass). They also are giving me a cake that they swore was Russian (and not disgusting american cake). Caviar will be included (a red roe).
I went and bought some pastires from world market, and will also have mustard. I will also have some flatbread for the caviar that I will need to warm up before I go.
Would anyone like to supply plates, napkins, cups and silverware?

As a side note- the woman there asked me five times if i was Russian or not. When she found out I liked pickles and mustard, she then asked me a sixth time. When I finally told her I didn't really know because I was adopted, she nodded vigorously. She then asked me when and where in Columbus I was born/adopted. We later talked and when I told her I had an MBA, she was very excited.
This next part, James will think I am lying, but 100% the truth: She told me that her Uncle (Vanya none the less) was looking for good 'businessmen' and maybe I could help him? He just moved to America and has money and wants to invest.
I told her I would help, but that I was not an investment banker. She said that maybe I wasn't, but at least I was Russian. And that was better than being an investment banker. I reminde3d her I was adopted and din't know, and she wavesd it away. 'Of course you are Russian' she said happily.

Re: Shadow Moot/ Sunday Soiree prep
My fun Russian shopkeeper woman story: K, my girlfriend at the time, told me it. W is a woman selling cucumbers and strawberries among other things from a cart in St. Petersburg.
K - How much are the cucumbers?
W - 30 rubles.
K - And they're fresh?
W - Still in the ground this morning.
K - Okay, I'll take them. (Fumbles in bag to find wallet)
W - What about strawberries? Take the strawberries, make preserves. Just one bag of cucumbers? Take two.
K - No thanks, this is all I need.
W - Oh, you're single, yes?
K - (Glare)
W - Have them in health.
