Disaster Strikes in Lancaster (9/21/10)
On the afternoon of Sunday the 19th at approximately three thirty, chaos broke out at a local fill station. Witnesses report a fire breaking out after a large explosion at the gas station. Causes of the initial explosion are unclear at this juncture but authorities are not ruling out foul play. The resulting fire made its way to the pumps that exploded themselves. Luckily the emergency stop malfunctioned and the flames were stopped from spreading to the underground storage tanks.
The explosion resulted in power outages for three miles and a ruptured water main.
The area will be backed up for the foreseeable future due to clean up crews and maintenance checking on the pipe lines and electricity. Local businesses will remain open as usual.
