Laminating and Item Cards

Post by Piotr on Tue Mar 20, 2012 12:24 pm

Does anyone have a home laminator? I have a few things I'd like to have laminated. Also, is anyone tech savvy enough to print item cards or know how to format a printer to print in a 3"x5" size? I'd like to make some customer cards but I am clueless with these fancy whiz bang computers.

By 'customer cards' do you mean business cards for Piotr? If so, you can actually buy full-sheet paper that is perforated and use a template to make business cards. If you want to print item cards, however, you'll definitely want index cards. As for laminating, there is plastic laminate you can pick up at Office Max, etc. that is a full page in size. You place the item or items that you want on one of the sheets and then peel a layer off the other sheet to reveal stickyness, press them together and viola! laminated. Smile

Yeah, I mean custom cards. Trust me, I'll be ordering business cards for Piotr Wink

Do you have any idea how to print index card size images?

Mmmm, a lot of it depends on your printer. If you don't live too far, I'd be happy to come over one evening and help you figure it out though!

I use Open Office, a free program from Sun Microsystems. It has, among all the options, a 'Drawing' program. You can drag and drop images onto it, change the size of the image, enter text in different sizes and fonts, and arrange it all to fit into a 3x5 format.

When it comes to printing I cheat a little. I tape the back of a blank 3x5 card to a sheet of paper. This paper is already marked with my margins so I know where to tape the card so the printout is on the card instead of the paper. This could take some trial and error on your part to find this out.

As far as lamination goes I will try to remember to bring my laminator to next game. No promises though.

I use my laser printer, feed in a 3x5 card and set my document size to 3x5. It's really fairly easy.
